The Purpose of Cable Management

In our last chapter, we find out some basics about cable management first we learned what it meant. To do a basic summary of our last article we mentioned that it was a process that handled the transport of cables to their destination (whether it be an IT building, network, etc.) and that during the cables life’s time maintenance, replacement and repair would be done as needed. Now let’s discuss a bit about the purpose of cable management in the first place.

It sounds like we may have already made our point in the first paragraph but we can probably elaborate a bit more about the process. Actually since we’re in a talkative move there is no probably about it…we’re just going to plain out rant about cable management’s purposes! Why not, right?! Anyhow, cable management is important for the reasons we mentioned above. Let’s think of a scenario to basically make our point about the purpose of cable management.

Suppose you are running a successful business. Whether you’re selling magazines, developing video games, or producing an ad for the next big technological breakthrough you just have to have a means of communicating throughout the country and world. You’re obviously going to need a network no doubt about it.

No matter how big or small that network is someone has to manage it. There has to be an ebb and flow to the organization of this network. In fact wait a second it’s coming to us right now about what’s needed. It has something to do with a cable; we believe the management of a cable. That’s it! Cable management. That’s what makes a successful network run and lets everyone else do their job. Your network though is not up to snuff.

Sadly, the last group of people you hired wasn’t so good about maintaining your network. There are machines that can’t connect to the internet and there are printer jobs that are coming out on a printer ten stories below. This is all over the place. What are you going to do?

This is where we play our role in this nightmare scenario and we plan to turn this into a dream for you or at least something bearable. So finally you have a competent crew that comes to update your network. They see what’s wrong and everything we’ve talked about in regards to the right way of cable management they do correctly.

They bring their cable trays, ladders and basket they set up a route for all the cables to comfortably travel. Suddenly a few computers that weren’t working start to work. You finally witness the true power of the computer network that wasn’t working for you earlier now take a complete 180 and serve you and your company like it should.

All is well now. Things have been fixed and granted that was a very simplified version but it establishes a point. The purpose of cable management no matter in what area you’re talking about is vital in keeping technologically based things running right. In today’s globalized world where countries are interlocked in business deals and negotiations a disconnected cable from someone’s computer could be an unintentional lack of miscommunication that can send a potential deal down the drain.

Something like that happens too long then someone is going to be out of a job. Since the majority of the world runs on machines like computers and faxes it’s very alarming when in a communication heavy job these things stop working. But a qualified person or multiple people in a group whose specialty are cable related matters are here to help make sure that never happens.

So as you can see the purpose of cable management isn’t one to take lightly. While the world will go on in a regular 9 to 5 job it’s scary to think that improper cable management in other areas like the transportation business and medical field could be a matter of life and death.
