Wire looms, a god send in the world of cable management. We bet your first thoughts are, “What the heck are these guys talking about this time?”. You should be used to our ridiculous and wacky titles by now, so please don’t lie to us and say you’re in an overwhelmed state of shock. You could be though because you’re wondering what’s so special about a wire loom that it’s been called a godsend. Your next question may even be what the heck is a wire loom?

A wire loom is a device that lets you weave cable after cable into its intended place over and over again. That’s’ pretty much the no frills simple definition. As you know we like to keep it simple so you should expect no different this time. So it’s safe to say that anything that increases productivity and makes long job shorter has got to be something special.

Well a wire loom definitely earns that title of being a “godsend”. At least that’s what we would think if we had a huge last minute cabling job on Friday that was threatening our beer and pizza fest because we might have to work overtime. Have a loom and a couple sets of eager hands cancelled out those fears rather quickly so we could enjoy our Friday night.

Under any circumstances something like a wire loom is a great help because with the ongoing demands of someone doing a cable management job anything that can shave precious minutes here and there is a good thing. Especially when at anytime you may have to reinstall a new set of cables. The loom also puts you in better control of things when you’re trying to coordinate you cable to go where it has to.

An on the go job like cable management puts you into some precarious situations so having something like a loom isn’t like you’re cheating. Sometimes make too big a deal over so called “shortcuts”. Of course the one thing you don’t want to take for granted that your work will be one hundred percent now all of sudden that you have a loom. It’s still a good idea to check all connections that you’ve made after running your cables through.

A wire loom can do some pretty amazing things but unfortunately it can’t apply the same judgment and observations for you. Even though the wire loom is a great device for cable management it’s not a living being that makes decisions and has instincts. So of course your precious skills as a cable manager are still going to have to come into play wire loom or not.

However, it’s always a good thing to have a tool that will help make life a little easier and we hope we don’t sound redundant that a wire loom does indeed do this. In your cable management tool box this is device is a must along with your cable cutters, wire strippers and crimper.
