They are pre-slit to enable easy installation and convenient cable access, as well as coming in a large and huge variety of different colors that most certainly will match any area or environment. The flex tubing wire loom is made out of polyethylene or plastic and comes in the form of a corrugated split tube.

As it is widely used it is manufactured and produced in unlimited different sizes. When comes to diameter the most usual sizes are ranging from ¼ inch to 2 inches. The wire loom tubing method is offers excellent protection against wiring harnesses, tubing, cables and hoses. The wire loom is also known for it very light weight and good flexibility which provides award winning protection from abrasion, vibration, puncture and friction.

Impressive as it might be, it also stands up against sunlight, snow, water, ice, salt and automotive fluids, this together with the fact that the polyethylene often provides UV protection makes the method both reliable and effective. The plastic is good enough to protect your cable for heats up to 200 Fahrenheit. With the alternative of wire loom you get a one neat and orderly cable bundle instead of multiple tangled cable and wires. Use it with cable wraps or perhaps cable ties to control the wires more effectively and to hide it under desks etc.

I have tons of these at home and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to hide and protect his or her cables. With the great variety of different colors and lengths you will find it very easy to manage your needs.

Mille Ties - Next Generation of Cable Ties

Today’s topic will be about a patented cable management tool that hasn’t quite had a breakthrough yet. The product is Mille Ties, a product specially constructed for easing the pressure of cable bundles used with regular cable ties. The original cable ties, as you know, came in many different colors and with some special functions and in a range of many customized materials.

Cable ties, has been the fastest way for organizing and bundling cables over the years, and with Mille ties they make a comeback with a more smooth and elegant solution. Mille ties will with 100% make sure that you don’t over-tighten or damage you cable or cable jackets. The Mille ties is so special or good at what it does that it even is approved by all the leading datacommunication companies, and it doesn’t stop there, they are also reusable and optimized for fiber optical usage.

The Mille ties is built of a solid piece of polyurethane giving it the abilities of tighten fiber optical cables without inhibiting their proper data signal transmission, something the original cable ties couldn’t. The Mille tie is created from a patented design and offers unlike the original a very soft, yet reliable and flexible cable tie. As the standard cable ties often created sharp edges the mille tie eliminates the chance of it to happen totally, and make the pressure of the tie evenly distributed. One of its other great features is that they’re reusable and that they’re reusable without the need of a locking head, the design helps it to be able to engage at any points of its length and creates massive opportunities.

When comes to cable management and cable ties, this is the ideal, it is by standard resistant to ultra violet exposure and is also excellent suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage.

Cable Management For Everyone - The Cable Turtle

Today I will tell you about a product that is very popular for the moment, the small cable management tools, or more precisely the Cable Turtle. The Cable turtle has been around for just sometime but has since its modest premier helped many to organize their home and office needs. The different sizes are mini, original and giant.

The mini cable turtle is for everyone to use. You use the mini to manage your mp3 cables or headphones offering great protection and a contemporary solution for both exercising and simple organizing needs. The original cable turtle is both for offices and home use; you can use it to hold 3 feet or 1 meter of cables, making it a good solution for your computer cables or larger headphones. The giant and the biggest of the cable turtles offer a solid solution for managing cables up to 5 meter or 16.5 feet.

Its design is very simple and the material is something that resembles a rubberized round yoyo. It has two openings for the two ends of the cable. The basic idea is to grab a cable and then wind it around the core and then simply snap the sides, shutting it neatly. The turtles are produced in a variety of different colors ranging from black, white, blue, red, yellow and green, so it will be easy to match you products.

After been using it myself, I found the products easy to use and practical. With no moving parts to break and a long lasting material makes the product both efficient and valuable. The material will also make sure to protect your cables, the method is so effective that even the biggest of wires seems to completely vanish.

Cable management folks, don’t hesitate to test this products they’re great!

Cable Management the right way!

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; This transition have helped me understand many things, I can say that much that my old job didn’t impress me a lot when comes to cable management, which basically is why I started to write about this from the beginning. The most horrible thing I remember is our old server room, it was impossible to understand the system that our technician had developed, most probably because there was no such thing as a system when he installed it, so every time something went wrong in the servers it took more than a day to solve the problem, because you simply couldn’t find all the servers and wires fast enough. Another thing that made me anxious at my old work was that nearly every workstation was installed poorly with wires crossing every direction making our whole office looking disgraceful.

Just imagine the relief to see that your new office is a professionally made with no space for clutter. This company is a living example of cable management done right. Instead of absolutely messing up the server room like we did at my previous job they actually spent time doing it right.

The guy who actually took on this project probably had the opportunity to do everything from the beginning. The real deal is that he has made transitions of new servers and patches so easy that he should get a diploma in cable management. So when I and my coworker got the mission to fully extend a running server it was possible, and when we was to exchange the network cables it was so easy that it was like working in a whole new dimension of server rooms, all because they did it the right way from the beginning.

So when you’re installing your company’s server room make sure to do it at a time when you can pull everything a part and install it correctly and systematically from the start. The same rule is applicable on your workstation, just pull everything out and do it from the beginning, it will take more time but it will be worth it.

Cable Management: Is It A Skill?

Greetings, dear readers and welcome to our latest article in our cable management series. We’ve covered the gamut of topics about cable management in a rather detailed fashion. Ranging from the importance of cable management and the reason for its existence. The only other topic we could think of is one that we pulled out of a hat. We ask you our devote readers a question, is cable management a skill? Well, we’re going to answer that question and let you formulate an opinion based on what you read. Sounds fair?

We definitely feel that cable management is a skill. Let’s face it cable management can be a real pain in the rear and being able to successfully perform the tasks entailed does take effort to get right sometimes. It’s chock full of responsibility and one small thing that goes wrong could make life miserable for all that have a stake how well you are performing of tasks related to cable management.

Some of the things you have to know to successfully perform cable management are organizational skills. You have to know where to plug everything is and make sure that it’s in its right spot. Also when those cables you plug in are not working it’s up to you to troubleshoot the problem. If the cable is busted and a new one is needed you have to know how to provide a replacement part. You have to know how to do your job because as a cable manager if you’re not doing the job you’re paid for then a lot of people can’t do their jobs either.

Those dependent on a running network or a cable TV signal are thrown under the bus if you don’t have the skills that are required for cable management. Because of this someone who has to work in cable management may find himself or herself under constant pressure because they have to make sure everyone else looks good. They’re the custodians of network functionality.

If you can deal with that pressure and still do your job with little difficulty then it’s safe to say that cable management is definitely a skill and not just mere work. Decision making is involved because the managing of cables involves a lot of logistics work. You have to know where the right place is to set up cables. You have to constantly keep an eye on functionality. Cable management is not a job that you just lock up and throw the key away.

A tool box for a cable management worker is the same as a doctor’s surgical equipment. You can’t allow the wrong hands go get a hold of these things or disaster follows. To us we have to consider cable management a skill an important one at that.

The responsibility, the patience and the organizational mindset one must have to perform this job make it a skill and talent that only certain people are really cut out for. So let’s give these guys a pat on the back they’re definitely worker hard behind the scenes to ensure that we get cable TV, telephone service and an internet connection that allows you to read this very article you’ve just finished reading after the end of this sentence. Thanks for reading!

Cable Management: Learning about Learning

In this article we are going to stray away form the traditional format of what we usually write about. Of course cable management will be the focus of our article but we’re not going to be breaking down any processes or getting really specific that’s what our other articles did. Think of this article as more as advice and nothing more.

You may have already looked at all the articles related to cable management and you might be overwhelmed. You may not understand how any of this works. There is no shame in that. Please don’t beat yourself up over this. Think about it this way everybody has different skills at different things. We’re not going to lie though there definitely are people who have a knack for technology and they just breezed through our articles.

From there these people apply what they found out from our articles and follow up research from other sources. So far you’ve been scratching your head and getting frustrated. Look at it this way, say you’ve got a knack for car repair and you also have the ability to supe up an ordinary vehicle into a road machine.

Well one of these computer “gurus” that breezed through our articles may be deathly afraid of anything involving six cylinders and four wheels. His or her aptitude may be very low in the automotive world. He or she is the same way you are about cable management. Now what exactly are we trying to tell you? Well, for one thing don’t get discouraged you’re not the only person that may have a hard time understanding a new concept.

So how do we fix this phobia you have over cable management? Alright, so we know that if we can barely write an interesting article for you to read then what gives us the right to crack lame jokes? Well considering we have the floor then we’re at least going to try to be funny. Whether that works or not we don’t know. But learning how to manage your cable management is just as important as managing the cables themselves.

Now we are going into this scenario wondering what we should be aware of when managing a LAN in your own house or at the office. For instance you should be sure to mark everything to distinguish your equipment one piece from another. In a home network you may not just have computers hooked up to one another you may have an Xbox 360 somewhere around there. Variables like this always throw out interested results.

In this case you’re going to want to avoid confusion between these items. Like we’ve mentioned in other articles to diagram everything you have hooked up. Well let’s elaborate more on why this important. The idea of cable management doesn’t just involve physical management of equipment and gear but documentation is a necessity if you want to get the best understanding of your system.

After all documenting of particular tendencies your system does and settings that you need to be aware of makes it easy to take things back to square one in the event of troubleshooting. Your cables are not different to in a LAN or any other cabled system for that matter.

Another cable management method you may want to incorporate is the use of photo and video. Video recording your setup and having still photos and archiving them as a guideline for what you have done is a genius move. This allows for you to recall particular information if you have to and plus it’s a good instructional aid if you want to take on another cable management related endeavor.

If the LAN that you are working on is a business one then these technical aids can serve as a good teacher to someone one your team that still needs to learn a few more tricks of the trade. Say you’re on vacation your learning aids can serve your network team when you are not available at the office. You’ll be vicariously offering your wisdom on cable management through the creation of your multimedia learning aids! Heck you can even do this with for your home LAN and submit the whole process on the net! Everyone does that these days.

Heck, if you were that proactive to take our advice on cable management tips beyond the norm we would say that your boss should give you a whole month’s paid vacation. It’s only fair for all that hard work you went thorough to make a methodically organized system like a video and photo aids.

In closing let us wish you luck in coming up with even more interesting ways to come up with new methods for cable management and if our suggestions work. Farewell for now faithful reader!

Cable Management Kits

Cable management kits are an essential part to keeping cable heavy areas intact and organized. These grab bags of accessories for storing your cables come in various varieties and configurations. They’re not exactly a universal item. However, there are kits out there that will suit whatever needs you do have. This applies to people with home theaters, recording studios, networks and anything else cable related.

Let’s take a moment to list some configurations that can be found on the internet or at computer specialty and hardware stores. Some big box electronic stores are another avenue of approach. Then again we’ve probably told you that stuff already but anyway let’s continue; here is what a typical configuration of a cable management kit contents are:

Raceway

Flat Elbow

Inside Eblow

Outside Elbow

3 Way Tee

Splice/Joint Cover

The convenience of having all these parts in one package beat the hassles of having to mix and match or shop multiple stores, saving you money time and aggravation. Because cable shouldn’t the only thing you’re managing. Your time should also be managed and managed wisely. After all don’t you want to be able to enjoy all your new toys if you’re making a home theater or snazzy home office computer network?

Like we’ve said before when making the decision to buy this and another accessories always try to get feedback from someone intimate with the product and how it works.

We feel that’s how you get the best idea for what you want and/or need. Again though the pressure should never be on you and we’re not saying that it should be on a sales clerk or customer service rep either. However, you are being served and as long as you’re showing respect and courteousy then the treatment you get in return should not be any different.

That’s why we recommend more intimate mom and pop style places. Because people that runs storefronts of that nature are people who have an intimate understanding of the product they sell and they most time have a passion for it. In fact they’d probably be upset if you didn’t ask questions! Unfortunately with big box stores and we apologize if we sound negative on this but their staff isn’t always a group of knowledgeable people.

We can’t necessarily blame those people either many are just young kids who are trying to get through school while having a part time job on the side. Unfortunately though if you want to get the best product money can buy and have the best learning experience those are the wrong people to talk to if it’s your intent to excel in cable management and other related fields.

Our best advice is if you’re left with no choice in resolving your cable management needs via a big box retail outlet do your best to consult interent sites and read articles like ths one. If you happen to know someone who’s an expert in cable management ask them to come along and help you ask the questions that you have no idea to ask.

Overall cable management is no different than the other subjects we’ve tackled there is a learning process but in time you can develop the skills you need. Buying a cable management kit will help you in being able to stay proficient and organized and therefore further feed your passion to become more skillful. If that’s your intention then dear reader our hard hats are off to you! Bye for now!

Wire Looms: A Cable Management Godsend

Wire looms, a god send in the world of cable management. We bet your first thoughts are, “What the heck are these guys talking about this time?”. You should be used to our ridiculous and wacky titles by now, so please don’t lie to us and say you’re in an overwhelmed state of shock. You could be though because you’re wondering what’s so special about a wire loom that it’s been called a godsend. Your next question may even be what the heck is a wire loom?

A wire loom is a device that lets you weave cable after cable into its intended place over and over again. That’s’ pretty much the no frills simple definition. As you know we like to keep it simple so you should expect no different this time. So it’s safe to say that anything that increases productivity and makes long job shorter has got to be something special.

Well a wire loom definitely earns that title of being a “godsend”. At least that’s what we would think if we had a huge last minute cabling job on Friday that was threatening our beer and pizza fest because we might have to work overtime. Have a loom and a couple sets of eager hands cancelled out those fears rather quickly so we could enjoy our Friday night.

Under any circumstances something like a wire loom is a great help because with the ongoing demands of someone doing a cable management job anything that can shave precious minutes here and there is a good thing. Especially when at anytime you may have to reinstall a new set of cables. The loom also puts you in better control of things when you’re trying to coordinate you cable to go where it has to.

An on the go job like cable management puts you into some precarious situations so having something like a loom isn’t like you’re cheating. Sometimes make too big a deal over so called “shortcuts”. Of course the one thing you don’t want to take for granted that your work will be one hundred percent now all of sudden that you have a loom. It’s still a good idea to check all connections that you’ve made after running your cables through.

A wire loom can do some pretty amazing things but unfortunately it can’t apply the same judgment and observations for you. Even though the wire loom is a great device for cable management it’s not a living being that makes decisions and has instincts. So of course your precious skills as a cable manager are still going to have to come into play wire loom or not.

However, it’s always a good thing to have a tool that will help make life a little easier and we hope we don’t sound redundant that a wire loom does indeed do this. In your cable management tool box this is device is a must along with your cable cutters, wire strippers and crimper.

We bet you’re thinking of running out and getting one right now so we won’t keep you. We’re glad you stuck around to read and until next time farewell dear reader!

Properly Managing…Cable Management

So what is the best way to successfully perform cable management? In other world how does one properly manage cable management? Well, we say enough with the Shakespeare like line of question and we just get to the heart of that matter, and actually give you guidance on making cable management a little more…manageable.

The key to cable management is organization. Keep it in your mind that this may be the first time you’re entering your network based fortress but if you plan on keeping your job then your first visit to the control room isn’t going to be your last. With that in mind why not make things easier for you and your co-workers (if applicable) and make the place a tightly run ship a place that makes you feel welcome. Now when we mean welcome we’re not saying that you bring a sleeping bag and your XBOX 360. If you do that then your first day probably will be your last.

Anyhow, depending on the amount of equipment you’re overseeing it could very minimal to just darn near unmanageable, who’s really to know for sure? Until you’re actually settled in. Well here are some suggestions we have for how you should handle your cables. First make plans to design a diagram have that in your mind you can do a little work at the beginning but it’d be best if you waited and numbered the cables first.

This way after you get the numbering system down for your cables then you can really go to work on your diagram. It’s a good idea to have a numbering system your cables and where they go because in the event any disconnection or malfunction occurs there’s a system that you’ve established. By establishing a system you can determine a problem much easier.

Next, any cables that can afford to be hidden find a way to contain them if they’re not contained already. Having the company budget buy a raceway is a good method of making those cables scarce. It helps to clear unneeded clutter another plus. For the cables you can’t afford to not have out bind them up with Velcro or some sort of tape (for a temporary solution). Be careful with duct tape because it leaves a heavy residue.

Taking these precautions to organize will make it easier to keep your accountability of your cables in much better check. The diagram is an excellent idea too and don’t worry if when drawing the diagram you’re not Da Vinci. If you make at least a basic diagram that outlines what your cable configuration looks like you’ll be in a lot better shape than if you didn’t have one.

What’s good about a diagram is that a less experienced team member or someone new can use it as a reference if you’re out sick or currently occupied and can’t tend to the network at that very moment. This is the good old fashioned work smarter not harder idea. Knowing this gives you a start in knowing how to manage cable management.

When it comes to cable management you’re a person will responsibilities and an obligation. If you’re not doing your job nobody else can. But we ‘re not worried we have a feeling you’re going to manage.

When Cable Management Is A Matter Of Life and Death

Often times we like to start our articles off joking around with you and taking a real light hearted approach to our articles but sometimes we have to be completely composed and professional on matters. This article in our cable management series is one of these times where witticisms are going to have to be kept to a minimum in fair interest to the point. Now believe it or not cable management can indeed be a matter of life and death.

Now we’re not talking about a business deal this time or an important e-mail that has to be sent to your friend from across the table. We’re talking about situations like medical patients who are in intensive care units or newly arrived individuals with serious injuries that have to be situated somewhere in what’s already a frantic and all business environment. When it comes to tending to current patients and admitting new ones cable management is more important than we think.

Every patient is at a different level of health or lack thereof. For instance a man with just one broken leg will likely be out in less than a day depending on factors like age and severity of injury. However say an individual has a bitter illness and they’re being administered for a long term visit then things have to be monitored. We mean everything from the simple keying in of the patient’s name at the service desk all the way to emergency bathroom handles/IV units to bedside monitors.

All these machinery has to be networked and accounted for. Everything at the bedside of a patient has to be clearly seen and distinguished so proper treatment can be carried out when needed. When a hospital’s network is setup the team of workers assigned to cable management must know what cable goes to what room and that all emergency functions are up and running.

If cables are not assigned correctly and accounted for then that could only mean trouble. In theory a mismanaged cable could lead to a scenario where an emeregency level is pulled and a nurse, doctor or orderly rush frantically into a hospital room ready once more to perform their Hippocratic Oath.

However, the room that the medical staff enters is occupied by a high school athlete that is recovering from a shoulder injury and is otherwise in fine shape. You can tell that other than his injury he looks fine and healthy. He tells the staff that he didn’t pull the alarm. The staff quickly realizes they’re in the wrong room. Luckily they look across the hall and find the actual emergency in the room across. Somehow the signals in both these rooms were crossed. Somebody definitely messed up here.

But let’s get back to our scenario, the staff makes it just in time to tend to the patient and thankfully it was nothing that couldn’t be solved. The patient was merely having a bad reaction to his medicine. This time everything ended all right but bad situations have and can happen. Things could have been a lot worse in that emergency.

Now we’re sure you already knew this but to get it fresher into your mind it’s always good to come up with these hypotheticals.

Keeping that in mind we hope your knowledge of the importance of cable management has been reinforced because it truly can be a life or death matter at times and the more you know about that, the better.

The Purpose of Cable Management

In our last chapter, we find out some basics about cable management first we learned what it meant. To do a basic summary of our last article we mentioned that it was a process that handled the transport of cables to their destination (whether it be an IT building, network, etc.) and that during the cables life’s time maintenance, replacement and repair would be done as needed. Now let’s discuss a bit about the purpose of cable management in the first place.

It sounds like we may have already made our point in the first paragraph but we can probably elaborate a bit more about the process. Actually since we’re in a talkative move there is no probably about it…we’re just going to plain out rant about cable management’s purposes! Why not, right?! Anyhow, cable management is important for the reasons we mentioned above. Let’s think of a scenario to basically make our point about the purpose of cable management.

Suppose you are running a successful business. Whether you’re selling magazines, developing video games, or producing an ad for the next big technological breakthrough you just have to have a means of communicating throughout the country and world. You’re obviously going to need a network no doubt about it.

No matter how big or small that network is someone has to manage it. There has to be an ebb and flow to the organization of this network. In fact wait a second it’s coming to us right now about what’s needed. It has something to do with a cable; we believe the management of a cable. That’s it! Cable management. That’s what makes a successful network run and lets everyone else do their job. Your network though is not up to snuff.

Sadly, the last group of people you hired wasn’t so good about maintaining your network. There are machines that can’t connect to the internet and there are printer jobs that are coming out on a printer ten stories below. This is all over the place. What are you going to do?

This is where we play our role in this nightmare scenario and we plan to turn this into a dream for you or at least something bearable. So finally you have a competent crew that comes to update your network. They see what’s wrong and everything we’ve talked about in regards to the right way of cable management they do correctly.

They bring their cable trays, ladders and basket they set up a route for all the cables to comfortably travel. Suddenly a few computers that weren’t working start to work. You finally witness the true power of the computer network that wasn’t working for you earlier now take a complete 180 and serve you and your company like it should.

All is well now. Things have been fixed and granted that was a very simplified version but it establishes a point. The purpose of cable management no matter in what area you’re talking about is vital in keeping technologically based things running right. In today’s globalized world where countries are interlocked in business deals and negotiations a disconnected cable from someone’s computer could be an unintentional lack of miscommunication that can send a potential deal down the drain.

Something like that happens too long then someone is going to be out of a job. Since the majority of the world runs on machines like computers and faxes it’s very alarming when in a communication heavy job these things stop working. But a qualified person or multiple people in a group whose specialty are cable related matters are here to help make sure that never happens.

So as you can see the purpose of cable management isn’t one to take lightly. While the world will go on in a regular 9 to 5 job it’s scary to think that improper cable management in other areas like the transportation business and medical field could be a matter of life and death.

However we are confident dear reader that you are a dedicated individual who thinks about these things and will continue to learn even more as we progress in our series on cable management. Thanks for reading!

If found this blog informative, you may also like our new blog about Exam Room Flags.

Cable Management

Cable management is a vital portion of establishing a network (or similar service) and the following set up of equipment to adequately maintain cables for data usage or any other technologically related activity.

The term cable management is sometimes interchanged with the workmanship and installation of cables. Because of this the term cable management has become a little broader and in its meaning and scope.

There are two objectives that are to be met with cable management. Maximum accountability must be taken over the cables as they’re to reach their destination (i.e. a school or business network) and of course the second part is to properly maintain and ensure that the cables are properly taken care of during and after their installation.

With cable management let’s not forget to mention that there are vital accessories and supplies to have when tasked with the job of performing cable management. For the sustainment of your cable’s destination you’ll need things like Cable ladders, cable baskets, cable trays.

These accessories and supplies are used to get the longest shelf life possible out of the cables that they are managing. The world of Information Technology for instance has priorities that are different from other vocations, very very different. It’s routine for an IT set up that is laden with data cables to continually have to set up “fixed cables” in all sorts of cabling areas like a cabinet.

From there, these patch paneled cables that are being held in a tray or other containment units are terminated on both ends. To fix this, the interrelated circuits are the final targets; this is made possible through the use of patch leads. Unfortunately it’s not unexpected that this configuration will change several times during the lifetime of the cable setup.

Another important thing to be aware when performing cable management is that these things can get jumbled up rather jumbled up and disorganized. This can result in difficult working conditions when trying to replace, terminate or add cables. During a scenario like this one a cable can accidentally get unplugged leading to more confusion.

Practices such as wire molding or using “Velcro” chord bands can help in averting nuisances like that. Because a cable management setup has enough challenges there’s no need to deal with the unnecessary things if you can avoid them.

Cable management’s role just doesn’t stop at Informational Technology. Power distribution, the communications field and local area networks utilize the practice of this task as well. So there’s no doubt that knowledge in this skill is vital and brings about a demand for work since everything in today’s day and age is dependent on cables.

There are definitely some things to stay on top of but with the right plan and equipment cable management shouldn’t be a sweat for those who are patient and focused. We hope that we’ve defined the basics of the process well enough for you and that you enjoy reading future installments on the subject. Bye for now!
am still writing rough drafts for my first ten posts which will give all kinds of tips on cable management. I am a musician part time so cable management is an old friend of mine and if you are a musician you know what I am talking about.

This blog is not for musicians though but rather for all of us who professionally or just as a side effect of a hobby, need to learn to organize our cables. Look behind your computer desk. See that? That's what I mean.

Please, if you just came here be patient as I will have my posts ready in a day or two.

Thanks for dropping by and be sure to come back soon!
